Listserv Caching Issue Resolution

Listserv Caching Issue Resolution

Overview

We’ve recently identified an issue where some email clients incorrectly cache listserv addresses as individual recipients. This can lead to confusion when replying to or composing new messages, causing users to unintentionally email the entire listserv instead of a specific individual.

What Changed

To prevent this issue from recurring, we’ve updated our listserv configuration. This change will stop new incorrect associations from being cached going forward. However, it does not remove any existing cached entries already stored in your email client.

To fully resolve this issue on your end, we recommend manually clearing any outdated or incorrect cached email addresses associated with our listservs.

How to Clear Cached Addresses in Outlook (ref image below)

  1. Start a new email message.
  2. Begin typing the listserv address in the “To” field.
  3. Look for any incorrect suggestions that appear.
  4. Click the “X” next to any incorrect or outdated entries to remove them.
  5. You’ll be able to identify incorrect cached contacts by the name displayed above the email address.

Why This Matters

Clearing these cached entries helps ensure your messages are sent to the intended recipients and prevents accidental emails to entire listservs.
